Technology Green Shoots:
Is it time for technology investors to stand up and take notice of the recent M&A activity that has been occurring in the sector? I think the answer is yes. These companies do tremendous due diligence and know a lot better than we do about proposed value within. Now I am not outright bullish on the tech space, as there is still plenty of technical damage that needs repair, but I feel one can be tactical and dip their toes into best of breed names. Just looking over the consolidation as of late, of course in the semiconductor space today with INTC and TSEM, but a few software names are being swallowed up too. MIME EPAY and ATVI come to mind, and there has been interest in ZEN and SPLK. Include this with earnings reactions being well received, and the recipe for future gains is visible. Today ANET and AMKR are good examples, and to be balanced we have witnessed some disasters too with NEWR and PI. On 1/24 the Nasdaq bounced near the very round 13000 number and is putting up a fight here at 14000. For me to get excited again it has to cross back above its 200 day SMA.
