Financial Review:

  • Ten-year yield now higher 10 of the last 12 weeks and jump of 5% last week. In fact, WEEKLY gains of 6.6 and 9.6% weeks ending 9/24 and 10/8 as well.

  • Second-best major S&P sector thus far in 2021. Strength begets strength. Traditional banks acting well but do not forget in diverse group, insurance, specialty finance, and asset managers contribute nicely. Think AIG, MC, and APO both of which are at 52-week highs and pay decent dividend yields.

Individual Names:

  • Last week rose by about 1%, but more impressive was that it did so after prior week jumped 7.5% in the secon- strongest WEEKLY volume in over one year. Good pause above 50 day SMA should let it catch its breath before next leg higher.

  • Name up 5 of last 6 weeks and rose more than 3% last week slightly outperforming XLF which advanced 2.8%. Not sure has the prestige it once had but still a name to be reckoned with in space.

Alternatives:

  • Name up 57% YTD and that's is outshining JPM which has gained 35% in 2021 thus far. Great relative strength week ending 10/15 higher by 4.6%, while the XLF added just 1.3%.
